Dr Varun Kumar

Dr Varun Kumar is a consultant psychiatrist . He has training as a general adult psychiatrist and additional post-graduate training as an old age psychiatrist. He is currently undertaking advanced training in individual psychodynamic psychotherapy. Dr Kumar was raised in Sydney and completed his undergraduate medical training in Queensland. He has experience as a staff specialist working in a general adult mood disorders unit, and as an old age psychiatrist working in inpatient and outpatient settings. He was the clinical lead for a mental health unit specialising in assisting patients with dementia and co-morbid behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. Dr Kumar treats a wide range of psychiatric illnesses for adults and older adults, and believes strongly in a holistic approach to mental health. He has experience in working in rural and regional areas of Australia and is currently working as a staff specialist in the area of old age psychiatry.
