Dr Ulla Jonsson

Dr Ulla Jonsson is a compassionate Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with a breadth of experience in children, adolescents and young people’s mental health and enjoys working with all aspects of the speciality. Originally trained in Sweden, she came to Australia in 2004. She has worked in public outpatient clinics and hospitals in rural and metropolitan areas in Sweden as well as in Launceston, Tasmania and for the past 2 years in Port Macquarie and Kempsey, NSW where she gained experience in working with Indigenous people. She strongly believes in a holistic and collaborative approach when working with young people and their families, emphasising the importance of the central role of families in advocating and communicating with health providers. She provides comprehensive management plans to GPs but can also provide ongoing care incl. counselling, brief psychotherapy as well as family work and monitoring of rational psychopharmacotherapy, if required.
